Hey Guys,

Here is a better look at the Clarion I have in mine. I have actually been pretty impressed with it so far. It was one down from the top last year, but as usual Clarion went and updated their line again so this model was discontinued so what was cost me

$400 you can now buy easy for around $150 - $180 price range. Like I say, I love it, its got way more stuff than I can figure out, sounds outstanding, and comes with a full function remote so you can play with it from outside the car.

Anyways here is a Link to Crutchfield to see what it looks like, and the features:

Clarion DXZ785USB CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

And here is a good vid demonstration on it which walks you through a lot of what it does. Please Note: I found this on Youtube and its got some sort of what I think to be Purubian music or something playing so unless that type of music floats your boat, I would probably say turn down the speakers and substitute some better tunes more suited to your liking. Otherwise, good Vid!

Above all else though, my biggest piece of advice is to keep a good weather eye out for that Audio Mod Bug cause once you get bit, those Audio/Video/Lighting Mods just seem to have no end!

I got off real easy with just a modded dash and a little less roo, in the trunk

Sadly, my good friend Brce didn't get off so easily. Here is a quick Vid of his ride taken a while back of which he now has added a bunch more!

Anyways, I'll get on out of your hair and let you get on with things. Check out the Clarion if you want. It really is a cool unit.

Other than that, go easy, best of luck on whatever you find out their! Remember PIC's are always nice for us Cruiser Guys to drool over!

Hey their Guys,

Aw, you guys are too much! I know I say it a lot, but I always really, really appreciate you guys big time! You guys are the greatest!!!

Heya Warped,
I am unfortunately one of the few peeps without a clue how to upload a Youtube Vid of my own so sadly, that's another guy demoing my unit. I think the music is purivian but not sure. I was just posting er to demo what the unit can do ( if one reads the owners manual) LOL

As for mounting a Single DIN Head Unit, and EQ into the stock location, it was pretty much one of those Mods that sounded really cool at the time and ended up snowballing into a huge production! It looks cool in the end, but it is a lot of work to pull off.

Me, and a buddy of mine, basically took my center bezel, measured everything out, and hand trimmed the bezel to fit both the head unit, and EQ which is a pretty slow and scary process cause if you snap it, or screw it up, your gonna have to find a new bezel which can be pretty expensive to replace! After we fit everything, I then had to build a custom one off plate out of fiberglass to hold both units in place, and adjust to make sure their were no clearance issues on my head unit as the face rotates down, and out to reach the CD Loader from behind. After everything was fitted and working right, the center bezel had a lot of patch work done to it so I decided to go ahead and go the expensive route and paint the entire dash with the same 3 stage Candy Tangerine I painted the outside with. Mine was really expensive mostly due to the way it was done, and the paint used! I mean I went through 8 coats of custom paint, and spent $783.63 on just enough paint to cover the air bag cover, center bezel, and gauge cluster, and then by the time you add all the other stereo work that was done, and I had several hours of time in my friends spray booth, it was an expensive project .
Do you need to do that....naw, unless you are way too picky and love to make simple things 10 times harder than anyone else has done before, at which point please give me a call as I got plenty of ideas on how to out do mine in every way imaginable!!!!

What you could do that I still think would look pretty sick might be, after you decide weather or not you would be up for modding your center bezel, might be to maybe take either a spray can, or a roll on Bed Liner for a Pickup and apply it to your piece. That stuff is no where near the cost of paint, would look real sweet, and is actually pretty decent protection on your parts!

Here is a better pic of mine up closser:

Go easy, keep working on a master plan, and if you should need a hand, I just might be around.

Stay cool

Thanks for a very informative thread, becuse I was going to relace my 4 stock speakers in my vert with new ones that were on sale but I will now wait until I get a better head unit.

I replaced the stock head unit with a OEradio unit and the stock speakers just come ALIVE! I have wondered though what the plug and play Kicker66 PT Cruiser upgrade speakers would sound like.,
