Default 2007 touring audio replacement

ok i just got a 07 touring ed. and i would like to replace the stock head unit with the unit i have from my junker old car ..

now i'm stuck with 2 issues .. first off , the face place of the touring ed is slightly differnt than others i have seen on this fourm , and i have no idea how to safely remove it .. their is no power windows plate to remove , it's part of the whole unit .. i dont want to start poking around all the edges with a screwdriver trying to pop the plate off without some idea of excatly how the thing is held on .. i did find an image of what the faceplate looks like

my second problem is the face of the aftermarket raido ... doesnt look like it will fit properly .. anyone know where i could get somthing that would make this
XHD7720 - CD/MP3/WMA/USB/iPod/HD Radio/Bluetooth Ready Receiver with iTunes Tagging
fit in to the faceplate shown above?

Have you tried a search on the top of the forum. I just put in "center dash removal" and came up with this:

How to: 2007 stereo removal and dash speaker install.

I also just made it a Sticky on the top of this Sound & Security section.

looks like i'm finding a good deal of radio faceplates useing the words "dash kit" on google ... *sigh* why wouldn't "radio faceplate pt cruiser" work - and i thought my searching skill were good.

lucindrea, do a search on here. Did the info on the sticky help you at all?? Maybe the ones (faceplates) you have been seeing are for 2001 thru 2005.
I wasn't aware that the 2007 Limited's were any different than the 2006 -2008"s. If a vendor lists one for a 2006 I think it would be the same.

the link here has shown me how to remove the dash plate ( or whatever the part of the car thats around the air controls and radio ) .. mainly they maoved the screw from behind the power window controls to inside the air vents.

as for the install kit .. i have found 2

Chrysler PT CRUISER 07 2007 Car Radio Install Dash Kit stereo

and

chrycomplete3 - eBay (item 230359937760 end time Aug-21-09 10:54:10 PDT)

both look like they will work but one also includes the wire harness .. yes it seems i was looking at the 200->2005 styles and not finding the 06->08

You need to page down to find out how to remove the grill around the 2007 PT radio. I was going thru it to find out how and found that there are two screws, one in each vent that have to be removed before taking the fascia off.

Its pretty easy to get the center console apart.

I just replaced my headunit with an E-din style which didn't fit the faceplate on the mounting kit. However its not a real big issue for me as it is not too distracting. But I do plan on putting a black piece of plastic behind it to make it look clean.
