Thanks , those are the symptoms , I just have this thing about fixing stuff. I always enjoyed the challenge. My hearing has gone to the point that I can't tell the difference between a $5 transistor radio and a $10K music system.
Jefferson Airplane,Greatful Dead, Zydaco,Swamp Pop and Mary Gauthier still sound good on anything.. I think I'll slip it out and play with it a little and if no joy I'll see what Crutchfield has for a replacement..Don't really want to put a $100 saddle on a $5 horse..Thanks again.Ed

There might be a fix for it but aftermarket decks are so cheap and easy to install these days, there's not really any point. If you're wanting to try and fix it, take it apart and have a look. It's already broken right?

2001 Limited - Same problem. Seems to be in the headlight / turn signal switch. Power or ground, haven't figured which. If I press on the wiring harness for the headlight switch or lift up on the wheel the radio display and horn work again. Looks like the switch depends on being grounded thru the steering wheel tilt mechanism. Over time this connection has gotten worn and very dirty / rusty. I need to add a ground wire from the switch to solid ground to check if this is the problem. Or I need to somehow clean tilt mechanism. Will updated you when I fix the problem.
