06 PT Radio works sometimes

Cool site first of all! I have a 06 PT Cruiser. 67k miles.
Here is the issue:

A few weeks ago my wife has noticed that the radio will sometimes work after the car is started. Sometimes she stops turns the car off and restarts the car it will work, some times. It will work off and on. I think there is 2 possible problems, short in the wiring or the radio is pooping out.

Is there a easy test? I am buying a light tester today and will test the wiring tonight. Should I save the $10 and buy a new radio?

When she gets in and out of the car, does she adjust the steering wheel? Some have found that the up & down movement causes the radio to come on &
off. Something in the wiring harness from the wheel down to the connectors.

naw, she never moves the steering wheel.
