Default Aftermarket nav options

Hey guys,

I have been doing tons of research on replacing the stock radio in my 06 cruiser with some sort of in-dash navigation unit. I have scoured the forums, but really haven't found any success stories or any new information, so I wanted to bring the topic back up and see if anyone has any updates.

Basically I have the standard 1.5 din slot and am not thrilled with having the RB-1 as my only option to put in there.

Has anyone successfully placed a double din unit into that space? Did you find a double din aftermarket bezel, or just cut away at the current one?

The next option I thought of was one of the single din, motorized units. Has anyone installed one before? Does the screen cover the vents when out? I haven't been able to find any pics of one of these in a pt, so I am a little weary.

Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. I'm also open to other suggestions.

You can do whatever you want. It all takes time and money. How much have you got?

I found this here

I like the double din from Alpine.

Right now I am not concerned with the costs. I am just looking at options and will make a monetary decision down the line.

I did see the post with the big screen in the dash there, but that is quite a lot of modification (moving controls, etc). I also do not feel comfortable attempting to hack up my bezel as I don't really have the tools to make it look nice (unless there is a kit out there to cover the cuts). That's why I asked if anyone found any after market bezels that expand the bezel to double dim.

I am really curious to hear of any success stories.

I have the pioneer avic n1.It is a single din unit with motorized screen. It works great and you can get the newer avic n3,n4,n5 for usually under $900 there are n3s on ebay for about 550 or another place HookedOnTronics - Consumer Electronics @ Top Discounts has great prices on new and reconditioned units

Do you have any pics of what it looks like in the dash and what it looks like with the screen out. I am concerned about what exactly the screen will be covering up, or visibility of it.
