Subwoofer power source?

So I am in the process of wiring in a couple 10's in the back of my 2005 Cruiser convertible. I am curious as to what others have done as far as running power to their amps in the back of the car and where you ran your wires.

Systematic replacement of the speakers will follow after the sub install is complete. Still working on what components to get.

I use a 8 gauge wire and when to the terminal near the fuse box ,
i rund the wire near the clutch pedal hole and into the seat ,
my amplifier is under the driver seat

Juicing the inside

I myself used a 6 gauges wire but it all depends of juice your amplifier needs.

Once I got more than a hundred watts running in the back hatch I put in a 4AWG straight to the positive on the battery. Theres a bunghole through the firewall with a grommet already there near the brake pedal, just big enough for a 4AWG.

Always fuse right at the battery BEFORE it goes through the firewall. I put a fuse holder on top of the plastic fuse holder in the engine compartment. If anything ever happens, thats what will keep your car from going up in flames. 100A fuse is a very wise investment.

Batteries can and will cause a 4AWG wire to heat up, melt all the insulation off, weld itself to the frame, glow red hot and cause the carpet and interior to catch fire. FUSE IT!

Ground comes from bolts at the rear hatch under the trim. Ring connectors fit nicely. I did 2 separate 8AWG runs to 2 bolts. Also doesn't hurt to run another 4AWG up to equalize the ground between the dash metal and wherever you put your grounds. Should remove any alternator whine from the inherent ground loop.

I ran power on the left side, under the easy to remove trim right at the door threshold. SImple to keep it out of sight. RCA's ran along the right side under the same trim panels - lotsa room there.

You'll save yourself hassle by putting in a distro block along with another set of fuses back in the hatch (if thats where your mounting).
