Hello all. I have a 2003 PT. I just purchased a double din with a 7" touch screen for my truck but my wife wants it in her PT. What I am needing help with is the install. As you know, the PT's have din & 1/2. I am not sure how to approach this task. I would like any pics of anyone who has done a double din in an '03 or similar dash style. As soon as I complete this task, I will post pics to help anyone else who wants to take this step. Thanks for all your help.

Hey their GaryD,
Welcome to the Forum. Unfortunately, their just isn't enough room to pull off a Double Din without doing some major surgery to the center dash. A couple of us have been brave and tried to pull off some small custom stuff in the dash, but its a really tight fit. I managed to squeeze an Equalizer with a Digital Sound Processor under my single DIN a while back but it was a lot of work to do, and it barely fit. I had to trim my Center Bezel to the max, make a custom chassis, fiberglass it in, and then paint the entire dash over to match everything. Here is a pic. ![]() Best and easiest way would be to make a Pod for it under your center bezel like my buddy Roger did for one of his monitors, and run it from their. Here is a pic to give you the idea. That is pretty simple to make from some MFD and a little leather, or other material to match up to your interior. That way you don't need to go cutting stuff up, you can get the Double Din in their, and the world is a better place.![]() I hope that kinda sorta answers your question their. If you have any more questions, please feel free to post and I willl be more than happy to help out any way I can. ![]() Go easy, and best of luck on your project. Candyman

Candyman,
Thanks so much for all your help. That actually answered my question. I wasn't sure if you could do it without moving the AC controls or the rear wiper comtrols. My best bet is goint to be either installing a single din fold out unit or building a box for it as in the second pic. Another question, where did you get your stearing wheel? That is pretty sick. Thanks for all your help. |

Hey their GaryD,
No problem. Yeah, mine started out as a small simple project but kinda turned into a big ordeal just to pull the EQ off without going to the trouble of relocating things. I have done another one where we capped off the AC vents, and relocated the window switches into the center console on a custom plate so we could glass in a monitor, but it was a real pain! The box is pretty simple and straight forward. Good weekend project. Thank you for the props on my steering wheel. Its actually a Grant Overlay that's air brushed. The overlay itself is just a fiberglass half shell that is backed with 3M red double sided sticky tape. I can air brush them into pretty much whatever, but its a bit costly with the new VOC restrictions on waterborne paints these days. Anyways, go easy, and Ill catch ya later. Candyman
