Default Factory Stereo Problems

Any help with the following?

I have just purchased a 2003 PT Cruiser and I am trying to code the stereo to work. I have the code (obtained using the serial number on the stereo). However it doesn't seem to work. I have contacted the seller who didn't have the code but seems to think that the wrong code was entered several times.

Would this brick the stereo?

Is there any way to reset the stereo to enable me to enter the code (eg removing the battery)?

Any help greatly appreciated!

I would suggest take it to the dealer and request some help from them.

BTW: Welcome to the Forum!!!

According to a person that is a guru on all things PT, there is NO stereo code for any PT Cruiser made in North America. You guys don't have your profile filled out so it's hard to tell where you are but quoting from my source:

The security code is ONLY AVAILABLE for export PTs. No domestic PT has a theft code.
That's why the American, Canadian, & Mexican owners are unable to help.

For what its worth, paging thru the 08 owners manual and p 251 says "Sales Code Ref" - "the 'radio sales code' is located on the lower right side of your radio faceplate."

If I remember correctly from another post, all PT's other than those for North America, have to go to the dealer for the code for the radio.
