Thumbs down Drivers door not latching

The door ajar alarm started going off on my '05 cruizer, which has led to the after market car alarm going off for no reason at 2:00 a.m. zzzzzzz

Was checking the doors out, and my door does not feel like it is latching the same as the others, and there is almost no resistance when opening using the latch.

I had an after market alarm put on 3 years ago, and aside from a P.O.S. remote that eats batteries, it's been fine..

WD-40'd the locking mechanisim , but to no avail, it's still screwed up.

Anybody had the door not latching issue before? And figured out how to fix??

thanks-

roborob

Ok, the door latch is fine, it's just the door ajar light/which then triggers the alarm...

Disconnected the negative battery term, hoping it would reset something, but no luck there.
Took off the door panel, checked that, it's working fine...

Any ideas anybody?

thanks

Welcome-
In the old days it was a button switch, now it's a sensor - either that or wiring could be the problem.

Roborob, where are you at? If you're anywhere near Charlotte NC I'd be glad to swing by with my Pred and we could look to see if you've got any kind of codes being kicked up and not displayed.

Uh, no, not too close to NC Chromenut- in San Antonio
Thanks though.

Looks like I'm Gonna have to swing by a shop to see if any funky codes kick up...
(don't have a reader)

The old schooler in me is kicking in and wants to remove all the stupid sensors and simplify things (As I'm pretty aware of when my door is open!! ) but... I'd imagine my PT wouldn't like that too much...
