Hi all, I own a 2009 PT cruiser.
I have just installed new 6.5" speaker in all 4 doors. Now i am looking to install a 12" sub and amp. I would like to keep the factory deck in. Is this possible? hooking up an amp to an 09 Pt cruiser factory deck? If so, any idea how to do it? things i will need? Thanks in advance. |

I have a 200 Watt Clarion AMP under the drivers front seat and a 8 1/2 inch Bazooka sub hidden inside a NOS look-alike container. ![]() |

Since the factory deck does not have a line out...you will need to get either an amp that accepts speaker level inputs or buy a speaker level to line level converter. It gets even more complecated in that the amp will need to be hooked to all 4 speakers otherwise the level of the sub will change depending on how you have the fader set.

hook this right into the rear speakers, right and left
then tune the amp, and adjust the bass, you can fade left and right and front and back, your backs wll include the woffer use your head unit to power the 4 door speaks, , and a seperate amp to run the woff, |

Im getting ready to install a custom system in the wifes 06' and have this to use the factory deck since there is nothing on the newer systems to turn the amps on, not to metion the restricted EQ of the factory radios too: re-Q - Take control of your factory stereo!
My 04' didnt need it as its a different PCM and not the newer canbus system

this does the same thing,
you do not have to use, diffrent anything when you are using speaker line outs, t is standard since they were made there is nothing diffrent, if your useing a rca type output, maybe they have changed, i dont know, speaker level, no this will do everything that expensive thing will do in this guys install, if he is going to use speaker level outputs, , and he can drop the line converter and just use this, ![]() |

Well yes it will, but on the newer systems (06 and up) there is no way to turn on the amps from the factory radio and the factory radio really strips the EQ down. I know i could have wired a toggle switch up or hooked into the cig lighter for turning on the amps and i know i could have adjusted the eq on the amps and/or run a seperate EQ, but...this is the cleanest way to install amps on the newer systems i found that works correctly.
I researched it for quite a while before getting it. I used to install and build custom systems years ago and it was a lot simpler back then ![]() Im currently trying to figure out a way to get around the dealer or locksmiths crazy programming fee on the 06' key fob. My 04' is simple to add fobs but noooo...they had to stop that in 06' so they can price gouge..lol

remot turn on uses the leads of the speaker, when the radio goes on it turn on your amp lead, thn the amp a few seconds after your radio, easy soultion, and way cheaper |
