I have never installed one but other then a standard set of tools, solder and a soldering station what else would I need.
Is it a standard wiring harness or is it different per car

Best way about it is buy a harness adapter (thrown in free if you buy an HU from Crutchfield and a few other places) or Walmart. The harness you purchase will plug into the stock harness, and the other end will be bare wire. That harness will come with a color code. Your after market HU's harness will also be the same, one side plugs into the HU itself and the other is of bare wire. It's a simple job of matching each wire. You can use solderless crimping/solder/twist+electrical tape, whatever you want. It's much easier than you think ![]() Been installing car stereos for years, and it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes. Oh and yes, different makes/models will use a different harness. You'll see one specifically for Honda models from 2000-2004, GM Vehicles/etc. Just take a trip to walmart and you'll see what I mean. Also, the PT Cruiser needs an adapter for the antennae if you wish to listen to the radio. Just a headsup! |

For both the plastic mounting kit and the wire harness???
if so, then that would be the place to go. I thought I was getting a good deal on ebay...

Not saying they don't, but the 5-6 I've seen didn't.
Wasn't too worried though because I never use the radio but I used my adapter anyway because it came with my Crutchfield purchase. Quote:
![]() Hell, you might even find it cheaper at a local audio shop. Needed some speaker brackets and online vendors/ebay sold'em for $30 bucks a pair. Found some cheaper at SonicElectronix. Decided I didn't want to wait on shipping, so I went to a local shop and they let me have a pair for free ![]() I didn't even end up using them, just went with 3/4" MDF and did a custom install. |

Well, its not a bad deal. But ya, i got it all for around 15$ . But even if ebay is a couple $ cheaper. I would rather run to walmart and have it now, than how to wait.
Anywhere else though and youll get ripped off. Like i said. I went to frys and they wanted 21$ for the harness and 22$ for the mounting piece. Started interrogating the poor guy on why it takes 22$ to produce a piece of plastic. Sadly 'he just worked there' hehe
