Default Factory radio switch

Dumb question from a newbe. I have a 01 Limited with a stock factory radio with a cassette player. I got my hands on a 03 factory radio with a cd player. Looking at the wiring harnesses they are different. The 01 has 2 flatter speaker connections,I think there are adapters for that, but there is 1 little wire with a red cap that looks like it has 2 little pin connectors in it next to the antenna. I don't see anywhere to connect that to the new radio. Am I screwed?

Welcome, Dennis.
Dunno the answer - can you tell by the color code on the wires? If it were me, I'd install and see what function's missing. [:I]

I've done the swap several times.
The adapter kit from Chrysler is about $15 and will include the PCI communications bus wire that you are concerned about.

Be sure to get the correct kit.
One way goes from 2001 radio into newer PTs and the other takes a newer radio into a 2001 harness. The connector gender is reveresed.

Look at the power antenna guide at www.ptdiy.net for all your answers and photos.

MX-5 Do you by chance have a part number. The first dealer that I went to never heard of the part. Still looking for another.

I have one sure part number.
I installed a 2001 radio in my 2002 PT. The part number is 82207523 WIRING AU 1002008 with a cost of $15.60.

You need the reverse adapter. You want to install a 2003 radio into a 2001 PT. The number "MAY" be 82207541 as seen on page 44 of the 2003 Mopar accessories quick reference guide.
