Exclamation accessory power lead

i was at the crutchfeild website looking up radios for my PT, i noticed the read before you buy, and on every radio it says, that my PT is not equipted with an accessory power lead. i need to know if i need the little power box there trying to get me to buy for the accessory power lead or not. i got all 6 stock speakers and i wana go with the JVC that costs about 120 bucks. any info on this would be veary helpfull

I got a Alpine for mine and after I got the cable harness I pay $30.00 to get it install in Best Buy! If you try to put just the harness it wont work! The technitian did it for me and only took 5 min! Good luck my friend!

There is no accessory power lead in the harness. You need to either buy the box or wire the accessory lead to the the cigarette lighter plug. You just need the one that provides power, not the one for amp intergration. You should be able to find one for under $40.00. You will also need an antenna adapter if you want to listen to the radio.

In our 2003 pt , I just bought a metra harness ( same as most other brands) an wired the radio up , an plugged it in and it was good to go. I did not have to add any wires or box to make it work correctly , an I do Audio,Video for profession.

The newer models use the CANBUS system and the computer turns the radio on and off and there is no acc. power in the harness.

HELLO; I would call cruthfields and talk to one of their technical advisors. I purchased a jvc radio from them they were very helpful. the unit came with a harness annd instructions. the only problem I had was in the hot wire lead, they advised to run it to the fuse box and connect to 15 amp fuse. everything works great. I have a 2006 touring. anyway give them a call they are very helpfull. Best to you.
