Default My CD player has kidnapped my CD's!!

My factory six disc CD changer has kidnapped my CD's and won't release them! My wife was switching some CD's while we were on a recent trip. During the process the CD player made a decision not to release the CD's it was holding (6). It briefly gave us a "CD ERR" message on the screen but then refused to light up at all in the CD mode. You can hear it cycle but nothing comes out. Took it to the dealer and the service writer played around with but with no sucess. He decided to order a new radio/CD player. Waiting for it to come in now. He said he would try to retrieve my CD's once he got the player out of the car but no guarantee's. [:I] Anyone else have this problem? Hate to loose my six CD's! [xx(]

Haven't heard that one. I would squawk at the "try to get the CDs out" crap. Give me a hammer and chisel - I'll get 'em out!

When technology goes bad, it really stinks.

Called the dealership and the radio is in. Taking the PT in this afternoon for the switch. I'll let you know how it works out. Service guy told me that they can't do too much to the old radio as far as disassembly goes or DC won't honor the warranty claim. [:I] I will expect a reimbursement for the cost of the CD's if he can't get them out however!

Took the PT to the dealership this afternoon to have the radios switched and........Surprise, Surprise!! They ordered the wrong radio! [V] [V] Parts guy said he ordered it per the vehicle VIN number which says the car came with a cassette/CD radio - which is incorrect. The car came with the six disc changer as part of the "tuned group" option. Have the window sticker which shows the changer was included. All this means another trip back to the dealership next week. [xx(] The saga continues.........[:0]

Sorry to hear that GW.

I had thought I would be reading how you got the changer replaced and your CD's out of the old changer and everything was OK.

I guess the saga continues...

Hope you get your CDs back. I had both a video recorder and a cassette recorder jam up and wouldn't release the median. When I finally got them out, the tape from the video and cassette had come out of the plastic containers and wound around in inards of the machines. At lease that can't happen with a CD.

Dealer called today (Friday) and said the CD changer was in. Took the PT in this afternoon and they took the old one out and put the new one which works great. Down side is that the tech said he couldn't/wouldn't get my 6 CD's out with out disassembly of the old player. Said if he did that DC would'nt warranty the deal.[:I] Parts guy said that DC will send them back to the dealership. Said I should have my Christmas CD's back in time for Easter![xx(] I'll give them some time before I raise cane about it. I have my receipts!
