I'm going to be installing an aftermarket radio into my 2007 PT Cruiser. Before I pull the radio out, etc. I want to build my wiring harness converter. Is there a wiring diagram out there for the Chrysler radio that I could use?

The wiring diagram for the 2007 PT Cruiser radio harness can be found below. However, most installers recommend buying a seperate harness that plugs into the stock harness so no wiring on the vehicle is cut.
2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Radio Wire Harness Color Codes Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Pink Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Red/White Car Radio Ground Wire: Black Car Radio Illumination Wire: N/A Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Orange Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A Car Audio Front Speakers Size: N/A Car Audio Front Speakers Location: N/A Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Dark Green Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Red/Brown Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Violet/Dark Green Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Dark Blue/Red Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: N/A Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: N/A Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown/Yellow Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Brown/Light Blue Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Dark Blue/White Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Dark Blue/Black |

Good luck! You're going to need it. After market stereos don't just plug in directly to the harness, and ditto Paul's comments about using an interface. Mine was okay except for one major issue - trying to keep it on the same power source as the factory stereo.
All PT's '06 and up are on the CAN buss, and that interface is a total B-word to deal with... |

And if it says Boston Premium just above the radio...it is even worse.

I was hoping to find a pinout of the connector so I know where each wire goes, since I don't have the car apart to see the wiring. Thanks guys! ![]() Last edited by Calab; 28 Feb 2011 at 09:08 am. |

Thje harness should have come with a wiring diagram. Your radio should also have a wiring diagram. You use the colors from them to connect the harness to the radio. You don't need to know the pinout of the connector in the PT.

Calab, I don't have the energy to sort trough the service manual, especially the wiring guides, there's just too many of them. If you want you can come and get one from me.... virtually that is... sent you a PM....

So, I pulled the radio while the battery was disconnected to troubleshoot something else... Here are the colours of my wires. They don't seem to match the list above.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...now to decode the colours. What's worse is that my installation harness only came with the large connector. I'm assuming that the small connector is for lighting and not important. Last edited by Calab; 01 Mar 2011 at 04:25 pm. |

Your colors may be different because you are in Canada. As long as you match the colors of the harness to the new radio you will have no problems. You are creating problems that do not exist. The only time you worry about the wiring colors in the car is if you are going to cut off the car connector and wire the radio directly to the car harness. This is not reccommended. If you are using a harnes made by one of the major makers you will not have any problems the wiring is correct. The smaller connector is for the Sirius Satelite radio.
