Default Confirming original equipment.

I recently purchased a 2006 Base model, but since it is a repossessed car I only have one key and I was also wondering if maybe it originally came with fobs for the central locking and maybe an alarm.

Could it be so equipped yet disabled temporally?

How could I tell one way or the other?

Can I look up the VIN to see how it was originally sold?

you could do carfax but you gotta pay for it. it'll show you the history of the car what it was used for and where it was sold. I did carfax for Eve when i was gonna get her and i found out that she was used as a fleet car then sold to someone then repo'd. but i'm not to sure you would be able to get the answers you're looking for.

I have the Carfax for the car, but will take a closer look. I did not see anything that points to original equipment.

that's kool, it was just a thought tho.
But if you do need one, they're a lot of keys for sell on ebay. If need be you could always go to the dealer or a lock smith so they can program the new key/fob to the car.

call the parts department of a chrysler dealer. Give them your vin, they will tell you what your car came with. That is how I found I mine came with the fobs.

Good idea, or look at the parts manual, see where the RKE module options
are, then look

The module that will tell you that your PT once had remote keyless entry, is the SKREEM module - Secure Key Remote Entry Module. The SKREEM module is located in the steering wheel column, attached to the right side MFS. The core for the ignition key is mounted in the center of the SKREEM transceiver antenna. Check under your driver's seat and see if you have a gateway module, if you do then you might have the SKREEM module installed.

Gateway module:

I've highlighted the module, it is not that color.

If you don't have a Gateway module, you won't have a SKREEM. The SKREEM is a PITA to get to and to work on. If you do have a Gateway module, you can take the cover off of the steering column and see if there is a SKREEM mounted there. Here's what it looks like:

I've highlighted the module, it is not that color.

If you do have it and want to move forward, you need the service manual for your PT and a scan tool to properly program it and your PCM to accept the new keys.
