Ok - so I have the stock radio - Part # 04858540AG in my '01
Trying to put a Sony CDX-M630 Sub auxillary in the back works fine. Auxillary in works fine The wiring harness for speakers however - no sound Red - acc. pwer Yel - const. 12v grnd - duh - all 3 of these work fine. its just the door speakers do not. the stock radio works fine. other then my antenna ( which im convinced its a malfunction retractible aftermarket ) doesnt raise ![]() I heard you could test the speaker wires from the harness out of the back of the new deck with a wire tester - but unclear on how to do so. previously i had it hooked up in my honda with the RCA - outputs to another amp - but that was all new wiring not using any stock stuff. was trying to avoid that. thanks for info

Usually solid blue wire is the power antenna wire. This is a "turn on" wire which will raise a power antenna when the radio is on tuner. Its not necessary if you don't have a power antenna. Don't use it to turn on your amp, as the amp would only turn on when your radio is in tuner. (AM/FM, etc)
The blue wire with white strip is usually the remote wire, another "turn on" wire, but goes to your amp. This turns the amp on when the radio is on. Red is 12 volt. In my 09, I had no red, so had to wire it from the radio's harness to the cig lighter. Yellow is the constant 12volt trickle, for memory, settings, etc in the head unit. Black is ground. In my 09, I had an orange illumination wire. The stock speakers had 4 pair (8 wires) Purple and Purple/Black Stripe, Green and Green/Black Strip, White and White/Black Stripe and darn one more color, I can't remember, both solid and with a black stripe. Wondering if you have those wired up? I bought the wiring harness as well. That plugs into the "stock" connector and then gives you the wire ends. You can crimp those to the ends from the radio's harness. -Cilos |

Try this: very easy, and if it doesn't work; return it for a full refund.
I will look like this (2 harnesses) http://www.amazon.com/Reverse-Harnes.../dp/B004DY6JDQ This is the right one for your car http://www.amazon.com/SONY-16PIN-CHR.../dp/B001JT1OIS DON'T ORDER OVER THE INTERNET FOR THIS ITEM, because if it doesn't work, you can return it much easier; than via USPS. Best Buy installs department has them; and I know Pep Boys has them too. You won't need to cut any wires; or crimp anything. You need 2 harnesses. One that is OEM Pt Cruiser to Sony. One that is Sony; to the back of your head unit. Best Buy installs department has them. 15 each; 30 total. -- Hey... I wish you would have came on here before you bought that sony head unit. Do you happen to have the receipt for it; and are you still within your return policy? They are poor-average at best. for $150; you could have gotten a great-excellent head unit. If you can return that; please do; and I promise to put in some time to help you... Wolf will attest to the extent of help I provide 110% free of charge; 110% free of any motive besides helping you get the best stuff for your dollar. I'm pretty new to the forums myself but can tell you SergeantPtCruiser has already come through big time to help me out. Same for Kawizx9r. And WolfmanG sent me to the right ebay seller for the Knight Rider light.
Definitely a lot of really good people here.
