I am installing an aftermarket radio in my 03 Cruiser using the following guide:
Car Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Pink/Light Blue Car Radio Switched 12V+ Wire: Red/White Car Radio Ground Wire: Black Car Radio Illumination Dimmer Wire: Orange Car Radio Power Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A Car Radio Amplifier Turn On Trigger Wire: N/A Front Speakers Size: N/A Front Speakers Location: N/A Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Green Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Brown/Blue Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Purple Right Front Speaker Wire (-): Blue/Red Rear Speakers Size: N/A Rear Speakers Location: N/A Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): Brown/Yellow Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Brown/Light Blue Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Blue/White Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): Blue/Black I have a wire that is purple with a yellow stripe but it's not listed on here, and my wiring harness doesn't seem to help. Anyone know what this wire is? It's not the right front speaker, I can see that one as well as the purple/yellow. |

Thanks, here's the answer I found:
"It connects the head unit to the PCI bus. It is for steering wheel controls, and it also feeds commands from the head to the amplifier in an Infinity system. It only works with the factory radio - you wouldn't be able to connect it directly to the control lead of any other aftermarket head. Tape it off. If you connect another wire to it or it grounds out, you could fry your PCM/CTM." New problem - I have everything installed correctly but the radio will not turn on. The odometer says "no fuse" when I turn the key. Checked all fuses, none are blown. Checked fuse in radio, not blown. Any ideas? |

I read that it could be the IOD fuse.. going to check that now

That would have been my answer (the IOD fuse) Not easy to check. It's covered and might have to be taken out to check.

It was the IOD fuse and it was a pain to get out. But all is well now (besides buying a faulty antenna adapter) thanks for your help as always.

Let me guess - you hooked up your radio, but you still had your battery connected? That's a big no-no with the PT, if you add anything to the electrical buss, disconnect the battery first. Then you lessen the chance of blowing fuses.

Yes, I did leave the battery connected. I tried disconnecting it but there was so much corrosion on the positive terminal that I cannot get it off, even after cleaning it. So, that's another fix to add to the list....still starts fine though.

I'd put that on the TOP of your list. That corrosion will eat down to where your no longer getting for voltage to the rest of the car and one day soon it won't start.

while your at it; you might need to clean your grounds too. Might as well if your going to start the project;
grounds are on the engine block and chassis. They are probably equally as bad. |
