Default Pioneer vs jl audio

Hey guys, I would like your opinion on a choice of car subs... Went to my local dealer today and they offered to install a brand new jl audio bass wedge with subwoofer and amp, thing is they would have to connect to it my stock radio because after labor and parts it comes to around $488. Would you guys recommend I go with the jl sub (12 inch) or go with pioneer or kicker( heard they were good brands) and try to get an aftermarket head unit as well? I'm new to this whole subwoofer deal, but don't wanna spend anymore than 500 dollars. Thanks for the help

Well, your about to get Ripped Off.

It's Hard to say JL vs. Kicker or Pioneer.

EVERY COMANY makes SEVERAL LINES OF SUBWOOFERS.

-

I bet they are selling you a entry level subwoofer.

The important number on the subwoofer is the RMS watts (not max watts).
.

JL makes a W1 W2......all the way up to W7. I bet they didn't make it clear to you what model number sub or amp you are getting.

This thread right here is Vital that you read. I helped out my dude Dill, and many others on there get a much much much better deal.

Check out this therad.

BIG UPS TO DILL : )

I believe he got a 1,000 RMS subwoofer; and a 1,500 RMS amplifier in a box for $420.

I am sure this is 200%-400% more powerful that the Entry Level JL they are trying to sell you.

Thumbs up Re: Pioneer vs jl audio

And don't feel hostage that you have a stock head unit.

You can buy a In line convertor. They are not that expensive.

I do recommend a better head unit; but all they are going to do is sell you an in line convertor.

Read this thread that was started just the other day. It covers the Head unit vs. In Line Convertor.

2008 Touring Edition - Installation Question.

Honestly dude, for $488, I can get you a new head unit; (with all the parts/accessories)

A much more powerful subwoofer; and a much more powerful amp for that price.

Not only would you get a Head unit; but you would get BETTER STUFF.

Please don't buy it before you get educated. I will help you out, and I don't work for anyone. my only motivation is to help you. Everyone on this board will back me up on that too.

This subwoofer is AWESOME. It's 27 pounds, puts out 3,500 max watts, but more importantly 1,000 RMS!

Pioneer TS-W3002D4

Pioneer TS W3002D4 Champion Series Pro car subwoofer driver - 1000 Watt

It's 400% more powerful than the Entry Level JL, and is Pioneers Pro level line. This is much better than the JL W1.

$120-$140
-----------------------------------

This Amp is 1,000 RMS and is equal to quality of the entry level JL. Also JL is not CEA certified. JL is good; but this is MUCH BETTER Dollar for Dollar.

This amp is 1,000 RMS!

Kenwood - KAC-8105D

Google

$110-$130
------------------

Sonic Sub Box: 1H12-0.7 (Black)
Sonic Sub Boxes 1H12-0.7-BLACK (1h1207-black) Single 12"

$19.99

-------------------

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMM!

Homie Don't Play that

We hooked up my dude Clok up too.

he got out a little cheaper, but didn't go with the Premier High End Line.

Some bass- easy questions for those in the know

HE DIDN'T GO CHEAP IN TERMS OF QUALITY; he just got something less that 1,000 RMS for like $200.

yea, I knew it, they just said JL audio, and never gave you model numbers.

I KNEW IT.

Truth: JL, Pioneer, Kicker, Soundstream, EVERYONE makes Entry, Mid, and High Level Products.

You can't compare an entry level to a high end line.

Darkside, you're getting some grade A advice here. What ever Serge say's i say go with it. He can get you hooked up like no other. He's hooked up a few ppl on here so far. I'm one who's getting help too but i'm not ready for my system yet, if you go over to the interior forum you'll see what i'm doing with vinyl. So i'm concentrating on that first and then i'll get my system. Good luck on your system journey

Darkside-

Sergeant knows what he is talking about, when it comes to systems of any level, he will steer you in the right direction and get you the best bang for your buck. I have experienced this personally. Take his advice, you will not go wrong, for the $488-500 you want to spend he can set you up with everything, a sub, amp and head unit, you will not regret it!

new system for a friend

Cheers!
