Default HELP!!! Need Pics of Installed Head units!!

Sergeant Has been filling my head with so much information. The little issue is adding my subs, my BIG issue is keeping it simple and just add what I need or spend a few bucks and get more than I expect in quality.

My BIGGEST ISSUE is changing the stock head unit. I have looked around and i see alot of speaker installations, in doors, on the floor and in the back. I have not seen that many Dash pictures. Pictures of the head units the EQ's how the dash looks with a single din radio, or touchscreen, just anything!

Please help so Sergeant will stop shaking his head when I ask something.

That was the issue I ran into not too many Gen 2 radios were to be found, alot of gen 1 which do look good, it is just the "Mickey Mouse" ears on the Gen 2 that bug me some. I was hoping for more Gen 2 to reply, I have seen through several threads that there are a couple of different mounting kits. I have seen one which looks like it has a 1/2 din cubby hole under the radio, wondering if someone has slid a preamp or small eq in that slot.

Also I have checked out the Pioneers, they do look dam cool and with the eq look pretty nice.

Thumbs up Re: HELP!!! Need Pics of Installed Head units!!

I would say call up the guys at Sonic or Crutchfeild and ask if they make a dash kit for the Second Generation.

-

If you can't find any that do, I seen a few Mickey Mouse ear's ones. There is about a 2 inch mismatch in dash color; however you get the BRAIN of a system which will allow you to hook up HQ subwoofers, and amps to your interior and subwoofer. Also the Equalizer, is amazing; with other options of SAT radio; etc.

I would do it; and if you sell the car; put the old one back in.. Take the good head unit with you.

--Don't tell me 2 inches of mouse ears out-weighs the gain!

Make it into a joke. Buy a mickey mouse sticker, It works. Ears- Music. It's funny.

I like a good head unit. It's like a good wife. She keeps one doing her thing. The OEM is like being divorced and living single.

Swallow that!

This is the temp install in the wifes PT i did. Working on glassing in the funky looking half circles on another bezel that will blend in perfectly:

NOW THAT IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!!!!

That looks great! That is the kit I have seen with the storage under the Head unit. I was thinking about getting that one and cutting out the storage compartment and adding a 1/2in din EQ under the unit to help fill in some of the space.

I know Sergeant is about sound quality, which I agree is a must but I have seen too many hack jobs installs that no matter how well it sounded just irked me. And something as small as the Mickey Mouse ears would just bug me. Painting them is an option, actually a piece of acrylic the same size of the ears, maybe frosted, and back lighted would look pretty cool.
