Default New Radio Instalation

Ok first let me introduce you to Spooky.

After a week of waiting everything is here.

My "Mystery Head Unit", Clarion EQ, Wire Harness, RCA plugs and Antenna Adapter.

Shot of the "Old Head Unit"

Overall the installation was pretty smooth, well almost. The wire Harness that I got had 2 yellow wires, which I thought was for the memory and a Red wire for Power. Now all my other wires matched color for color. As I soldered each and every wire together with silver solder and then heat shrink, I slide the unit into the dash and then had to test it before bolting it up... No I was so sure of myself and following all the color codes to a "T" I bolted the thing back up. The hit the power button and...... Well the screen moved up and down but no display. After unbolting the entire unit I found that on my wire harness there was a red wire and 2 yellow wires, on the PT's wire harness, there were just 2 yellow and my red wire went to nothing. So switched the wires and now i have full power.

Will get the pictures of the head unit installed next.

Actually got the radio installed, just the radio, where I wanted to put the EQ is not going to work out so I am trying to figure out if I want to put it in the storage bin or below it, just above the 12v outlet. Either way with just the stock speakers and the subs not even connected, this unit rocks! I drive an hour to and from work, so 2 hours of just me and my PT everyday. I have had to actually go home, get my Ipod and listen to a song I heard in the car because I had heard something in the song that either I had not noticed or heard before. Which is very cool.

Here is the actual head unit installed

Now it is not a pioneer, but it does satisfy my little want/wish list. Bluetooth, SD Card, MP3, MP4 with a Touchscreen I can read, WITHOUT MY GLASSES!!!.

Now again I must give SergeantPTCruiser thanks for all the information and the breakdown of what that information means. Now I know computers, I build them, repair them and even know how to make them do what I want.

So the head unit I picked out was a Pyle. Basically I set a price, defined what i wanted and what I needed. I have problems seeing things up close, so I wear glasses. Driving I do not need glasses, but it makes trying to read anything in the car a problem, this includes phones, ipods, speedometer during some times of the day and especially the radio. I spend 2 hrs a day in my PT, so options were a must.

SergeantPTCruiser, personally I think a Pioneer head unit mated with a Pioneer amp and the result was SergeantPTCruiser. Now dont get me wrong I love my pioneer home stereo, but I would have spent prob 3 times what I spent to get what I did get with the Pyle.

Now I know he will bust on me for the 2v outputs, but by adding the Clarion EQ, 7 bands and it will make up for the 2v of the head unit. This weekend I hope to get the EQ installed and the subs. So far i am very happy with what i got and how much better it sounds than stock.
