Default Radio Problem in 2004 PT

I have a problem with the radio in a 2004 PT.
At times (most of the time) I have to hit the steering wheel with my hand for the radio to show the current time (feed from constant power). When I do, it shows the correct time and it will power on. At times it goes out completely by itself until I hit the steering wheel again. At times it also works if I move the steering wheel up and down.
Also, I only have rear speakers working and I have tried to switch wires in the harness to the radio in order to check the front speakers but they still don't work. I am guessing that it is probably a connector somewhere that is causing both of the problems.
Any input from anybody here???

Definitely sounds like you have some wiring issues. Is this the factory radio?

All the wiring goes down the steering column and many owners had problems when they adjusted the adjustable steering wheel. Try moving the wheel up and down to see if it makes any difference and if you can, take off the bottom panels of the steering column and inspect and wiggle any wiring harness you see to see if it makes a difference with the radio. Some found the electrical connections for the harness needed to be played with, other found the harness being stretched and causing bad contact.
