Lightbulb radio switch

I bought a radio that has the auxuliary input on it.I didn't realize that not all pt crusier radios are the same.It said it would fit my 2003 pt crusier but when I finally got somebody to switch radios I found out theres a metal or steel bar inside dash so this radio would not go in.I want to put in a factory radio but don't know how. Also I'm a woman so I don't know anything about cutting bars etc.I also can't afford to take it somewhere to have it done.Mine is an rbk and I did see some on ebay like mine but also had a tape deck.Does anybody know if it would work or have any other ideas. One other thing is the radio that I already bought(still have it) is just like the one in my car on the back.I would like to have one with the aux input but will settle for cd and tape player combo.Could I just switch faceplates and it work? Sorry so long but had a lot to explain.

Bren-

Happy to try and help you. Few questions, what year is your pt?, is it a stock mopar radio you purchased or after market?, what are you trying to accomplish with the aux input? Assuming you want to be able to hook up an Ipod or mp3 player and your old stereo worked fine there is an easier way of doing it with a FM modulator. Also, the fact that you are a woman changes nothing! (learned that from my wife! ) if you can twist a screwdriver, with the help of everyone here on the boards, you can do it yourself with no problems. On my 03' my wife timed me @ 34 seconds to get our stereo out without destroying anything , but then again being a Hispanic from NYC I might be slipping a bit! LOL!

Cheers!
