Default My beef about the Chrysler SUBWOOFER accessory

My BIG beef with Chrysler's SUBWOOFER accessory is that it should be installed when the car is being built ~ if someone,(like me) orders the PT from the dealership or On-line to be built.
They don't make that an option, and they should since I personally don't want to dismantle my interior just to install the left-rear interior quarter panel.
The only accessory I could have installed at the factory was Front Tow Hooks ..... BIG DEAL!!!!! .... I can install those in 5 minutes..... how about installing something that the CONSUMER can't easily install..... like the darn 1/4 panel!!!
O.K..... I vented..... but will they ever hear me? I would have loved to have that FACTORY "THUMP"..... ..... maybe some day they'll get wise......[xx(]

You can easily install the Mopar sub.
I've installed several and can get it done in just over an hour.

It's a big panel, but not a big deal.

I like a man with confidence....... can you explain what's involved in putting this accessory in? I thought the seats and carpet were gonna have to come out.....among other things..... I need to hook up with you..... nobody has done one here at the local Chrysler service dept......and I'm not gonna let them experiment with mine!!!! Thanks for your input MX-5......[^]

The online installation guide is at www.ptdiy.net
They are updating the site, so if you can wait a few days, all the pics and info will be online for free.

The rear panel comes out with a few screws that hold the cargo net D-clips. The T-45 torx bit hold the seatbelt retractor in place.
The rest is just tucking the power cable along the door sills. The seats do not get removed.
The radio only takes a minute to remove. The connector just plugs into the rear of the radio. The groud eyelet screws to the radio chassis.

This mod is important:
The power lead should go to the hot wire at the lower power outlet, the one in the floor center console. The Mopar instructions ask you to splice into the power outlet on the center dash. This will power the sub all the time, 24/7. It will drain the battery anytime you let it sit for more than a few days.
There is a Mopar TSB detailing the re-wire.
Be sure to make a good splice. I always solder the splice to eliminate intermittent connections.

With patience and a little mechanical common sense, you can install it yourself.
