Default Retro Radio

I am fairly new Cruiser here, and so glad to having had found this forum. So my apologies if the retro looking radio had been discussed. I honestly searched but found nothing. So my question is - can anyone recommend retro looking CD-radio that fits in and does not require rocket science degree to get installed?

My OEM is all right, but it is just the same radio as the one being put into Caliber. Nothing wrong about Caliber, i just think the Cruiser may deserve something better. So I was looking for something modern made, but retro in style. I have seen few things on eBay, but would hesitate to buy without recommendation.

Any ideas? Thanks all.

Thumbs up Re: Retro Radio

If you want a 'Retro' looking radio you'll need to put a CD changer under the seat,or in the rear.(plenty of run under the seats of a PT!).....But here is one that has ALL bells and wistles....You can talk hands-free or stream audio programming to the receiver with your smartphone, and you can connect your iPod or USB thumb drive to the two rear USB ports. You'll find two auxiliary inputs on the rear of the receiver for other sources, like a satellite radio tuner, and it will display song titles from any radio station that's broadcasting text information.

If you really wanted to go retro you could take the faceplate off your stock radio and then find a older radio from say the 60-70's that's slightly bigger and take the faceplate off it and trim it down and do some modifications to make the older faceplate work and that'd be one sick stock radio. A lot of work involved but itd be one of a kind but come on. Whos pt cruiser has the stainless steel rotary knobs and push buttons. Literally the only thing youd be changing is the black front part. Hmm. Got me thinking now. may have to try this sometime just to see. In my mind it sounds cool!!

Thank you. Should it fit right in with no extra drilling/soldering? I think the black front will look good.
