I just purchased a set of 6x8 MTX 2 ways and installed them right in the parking lot. Pretty easy install, although the third screw had to go in on an angle as the holes didnt line up. I will be using Dynamat later when I hook up my poweramp. Problem is, the bass doesnt sound right. Can anyone tell me the color code for the wires? They may be out of phase so I tried switching one set of wires, but couldnt tell any difference. Also I am not getting the power out of them like I did with the originals. Any suggestions? They are running off my JVC deck which is rated at 52x4. The fronts are nice and basey and loud but the backs are lacking now. Is this common? Maybe with the amp things will brighten up?
2nd, I want to run my cables from the back to the front. Is there any best place to run them and go through the firewall to attach the power to my battery? I know from previous installs in other cars, each manufacturer is a different sweet spot. Was thinking of going through where the wiring harness attaches. ![]() |

Most aftermarket speakers don't put out as much bass as the oem units. They focus on clearer mids and highs and leave bass for a subwoofer. If you have adapters like I did for my 2006 cruiser, there is no way to mix up the speaker wiring. Of course, you are running off of an aftermarket deck. Even so, expect less bass. People say they notice a big difference after amping, but I didn't in my old car which had a top of the line custom JBL system. The individual component speakers never put out as much bass as the factory units, but the subwoofer put out a lot more.
