Default Stereo Grounding?

I recently had the OEM RAQ stereo out of my '06 Touring Edition. When putting it back into the dash, I noticed a lug on the side of the case by the fan that apparently is for a ground wire. I looked all around in the dash opening for a loose wire, but could never find one. In the past, the stereo has been out several times, by myself and by different shops, working in the area. But since I couldn't find a loose wire, I made up my own ground wire, secured it to some metal structure behind the dash and attached it to the lug. But since the entire dash structure that the stereo mounts into is plastic, is it necessary to ground the stereo? If so, I would think that there would have been a factory ground wire somewhere in that area that should go onto the lug.

Default Re: Stereo Grounding?

There should be a ground wire in the harness with all the other wires... can't ever hurt to add extra ground however.
