I did a search but couldn't find any past posts on this one. I have an Infinity Basslink in my Crown Vic and am very happy with it. I would like to install on in our PT, and wonder if anyone has already installed one of these. Where is the best place to mount one in order to save space? How much clearance is under the drivers seat (the car isn't here right now to measure), and is there any problem in removing an airbag seat in order to mount it?

Stimpy where Ren? [
]Welcome to the forum I couldn't resist. Ok first, how big is the unit? Where is it mounted in the Vic? Are you going to replace the stock deck? Im supposing your PT is on order, how right Im I? Most the seats in the PT don't have airbags equiped in them. Unless its a 04 option? The drivers seat has a good amout of clearance. I will hold a Woox unit, which is about 15-18 in length and 6-8 wide from what I understand. However the passenger side won't because of the optional storage bin. Hope that helps some.

As for seat removal (presuming you have the optional Side Impact airbags, which are located in the seats): Just like in the manual for working anywhere near Any Airbag component: Step 1: Disconnnect Battery. Step 2: Make sure the battery is disconnected. When removing the seat =Carefully= disconnect the wiring connector (examine it and figure out the locking tabs to unlock the connection Don't Force It!) Don't mess with the airbag wires. Don't connect them to ANYTHING until you are reinstalling the seat and you reconnect them to the car wiring harness. Any voltage, even the trickle a circuit tester or ohmmeter would apply, may trigger the airbag. Installation is the reverse. Be sure the connection locks. Make sure no one is in the car when you reconnect the battery (just in case). |
