Default Car Alarm???

Does this happen to you???

I had my window down a little bit. I set the alarm with all doors locked.

I then reached in and unlocked the door by the door lock switch, then opened the door. No alarm went off or anything

I then did the same thing window open set alarm then reached in and lifted the door knob, opened the door. No alarm went off.

Thus all contents inside my car would be gone without the alarm

1.) Does this happen to everyone?

2.) What good is the alarm if all it takes is to hit the switch (by a coat hanger or some device) and the doors are open and alarm disarmed?

3.) What after market alarm system do you recommend?

Welcome to the forum lightyears!

Guess DC figured you wouldn't be leaving the windows down when you wanted your car locked up.

Welcome to the forums.

1) Believe so 2) the alarm thinks you are inside and are getting out, so doesn't "yell".
3) a Rottweiler

Welcome to the forum lightyears!
Try to let the alarm set before doing this.

Watch the light in the dash. If it is solid it is not set yet and is still working. Wait until the light starts to flash, then try it.

light years,

Now you know why the Chrysler "alarm" is pretty useless. It's a "safety" feature that the alarm will not go off if the door unlock switches or interior handles are used. This prevents the kids, the sleeping spouse, or even the smart family pet from exiting the vehicle without waking up the neighbors or making a scene in the parking lot.

Any reputable alarm manufacturer such as DEI (Viper, Python, Clifford), Code Alarm, etc. has a product that will meet your needs.

I'm with KingKole02. In most cases if you wait for the doom light to switch off. If you are unhappy with your factory system there are some really good aftermarkets I'd look into a Viper.

Until I clicked on the link, I thought you were recommending a snake (sorta like me saying a Rottweiler).

Pit Viper alarm system.
One pit viper from pet store (check local price)
Dead mouse and rubber mat (check local shops)

When exiting car place mat on seat place large dead mouse on seat for viper to take awhile to eat, place viper. When someone tries to steal the car the open the door swiftly seat down and seat to go to work on the cables and.....chomp they get bite by a pitviper, which I believe is venomious. Caution should only be handled by train animal and snake keepers/trappers.

there are alot of diferent styles it just would depend on what functions you would want. remote start? shock or tilt sensor? keyless entery or tunk pop? I have found that vipers are the most dependable with venom or with out.
