Default Radio wont hold it's code

Every time i start the car i have to enter the code to get some tunes so is the radio knackered or could this be rectified ?

What year car, is it a factory radio, and do you have a multimeter?

It's a 2002 and an original radio ...

Your a lot better off putting your question on the EUROPE PT FORUM under Regional Forums as none of the United States PT Cruisers came from the factory needing a code.

on the radio there should be a pink wire with a light blue stripe. make sure that has 12v+ with the key on. then make sure it has power with the key off.

if it does not have power with the car off, you will need to clip the wire off and attach it to somewhere else. easiest would be to connect it to one of the top row fuses in the interior fuse box by using one of these fuse taps from a local parts store.

on the other hand, if you DO have 12v to that wire with the car off, the problem is likely inside the radio. if that's the case, it may be a good time for you to consider an upgrade.

are you implying darwin didn't live in central Florida?

If he had the avalable info we have today he would toss his conclusions and start over. But now we are stuck with it as fact. Kinda like the internet huh.

Investigated today and the wires have been meddled with so i might just put proper connectors on and put it back how it was ..
Oh and, there's only power at the wire when the ignition is on
