Default 12v ignition on in overhead console?

Hi everyone,

New to this forum. Just purchased a 2001 Limited for my daughter and had a question. Looking to install a backup camera/rear view mirror. I need to connect the mirror to a ignition on power source and obviously a ground. I don't want to run a lead from the mirror down to fuse panel so I was hoping that there would be a hot lead in the overhead console. She has the factory power roof, compass, outside temperature and map lights. There has to be something up there, correct? I'm sure I can find the ground. Also, how would I remove the console to get there?

Thanks!

Steve

Look for the pink wire (20gauge) at overhead console connector pin #4. It is a battery hot lead protected by fuse #13 (10 amp) in the dash fuse block.

To remove the overhead console (easier than it sounds):
Grasp the front of the overhead console and pull downward to disconnect the front retaining clips from their slots.
Slide the overhead console forward to disengage the rear tabs from the headliner.
Disconnect the overhead console wire connector and unsnap compass module from inner roof panel by pushing the module all the way forward to disengage the front retaining clip. Once the front clip is disconnected, push the module all the way rearward to disengage the rear retaining clip.
Remove console from vehicle.

From a post when I installed an overhead console, for reference. I cut the headliner hole in the picture.
