Default How do you connect the dashboard speakers?

I bought the front and rear Mopar speaker upgrades. After removing the top dashboard cover, I removed the 2 pieces of cardboard where the speakers go and couldn't find any connectors. It's a 2008 PT Cruiser Touring. I called the dealer and they told me that the wire harnesses are the same in all PT Cruisers. They said it could be taped to a wire.

Does anybody know where the connectors are for the dashboard speakers?

I'd like to know the answer as well. I have waited to order any speakers because of this.

The dealer was wrong. They used a host of different wiring harness'. Some have the wiring for fogs. Some do not. Some have the wiring for cruise control. Some do not. There are various other differences like plugs for the power ports. Some have them and some don't.

If the plugs aren't there then chances are you will have to run your own wiring. My understanding is they splice into the wiring for the front speakers. They don't have their own channels.

I guess I'll just pull up a wiring diagram. It was kind of a let down because the subwoofer and other four speakers were just plug and play.

Same place as earlier PT's, in the cubby on the left side inside the hatch.

Hmmmm, thanks for the info. I haven't seen any sub's in the PT. I guess I'm on a quest now. Thanks LionPT!

On my '06 Touring Edition, which was the first year for the GEN-2 model, all trim levels had (6) speakers (according to below link):

2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Equipment (click on "ENTERTAINMENT" tab)

Then for the remaining models years, Chrysler dropped to (4) speakers except the convertible models still had (6) (according to below link):

2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Equipment (click on "ENTERTAINMENT" tab)

So did Chrysler keep the same dash top panel, where they all had the integrated speaker grills, but no speakers, or is there a different top panel that is blank with no speaker grills?

Two little dash speakers couldn't cost that much, but cutting them was the job of some bean counter trying to cut cost wherever they can.

The grills are still there and none of that changed. Just no speakers and no wiring. This link should help a lot.

How to: 2007 stereo removal and dash speaker install.
