Default 2001 radio problems

I joined this forum because I found a possible solution to my radio problem on it, but couldn't print the picture without joining. Now that I have joined, i can't seem to find the answer again!!
Mine is a 2001, with a radio that goes haywire. The answer seems to be in the steering column wiring. Someone posted that they figured out which wires usually cause it and posted a picture. Can someone direct me to that post??
Thanks.
I have spent some time on your forum and find it very helpful.

Welcome to the forum from the great sovereign state of Arkansas!

A mechanic listed a ground fix in post #9 of this thread link. That seems to work for some folks:

Horn and Radio Screen Intermittent?

OK, I found it again under Jensonpro. He showed the wires and described how to do it.
I've done it.
However, when I turned on the radio, it makes a LOUD distorted noise,
then the sound goes off and the display stays on with numbers that don't make any sense. Nothing else works. When I shut it off, the display stays on.
I pulled the fuse, and the display numbers stayed on!!??!
I'm assuming it's time to look for a new radio.
But also wonder if I have some kind of short in the wiring.
I disconnected the battery and the display went away.
I can reconnect the battery and the clock works, as long as I don't turn on the radio.
I just retired and don't really need the PT anymore--may be selling it soon.
Crutchfield seems to have a good supply of stereos for less than $100 with adapters.
Has anybody had experience with them---and these conditions on their radio??

It's hard to say. Since the clock works normally, there's a chance it is the radio.

If you get a radio out of salvage PT, it will need to come from another 2001. In 2002, Chrysler changed the plugs on the back of the radio and antenna. But just about any oval face radio from any Chrysler car 2001 and earlier should work. Your radio should have two narrow rectangular plugs and a standard antenna plug. The later ones have one fatter rectangular plug and a funky made antenna plug.

Thanks,
I knew I read something about changes Chrysler made.
That answered the question.
