Default 2003 radio interference and static

Been searching a couple of days but cant find anyone with the same problem. Recently my OEM radio has started giving me alot of static. The CD player works fine so its not the speakers. When I try to "Seek" it only jumps to the next frequency. Some stations come in, but all with more or less static. There is no relation to speed as this static is present in ACC position, with the motor idling, as well as driving. Tested the antenna and seems to be working fine. Checked all 3 of my factory ground cables (strut tower, hood, muffler) and after cleaning them and their connections still have the same interfecence. Today took off the factory noise suppression capacitor, with no difference in the reception...have to wait three days to get a new one so will let you know if that fixes it, but wanted to know if anyone has had this same problem or any ideas of what it could be.......

Take out the radio & make sure the antenna plug is in tight...I had the same problem when I got my PT, it was only pushed 1/2 in.

Yeah tried that. It has some wiggle in it but clicked into place...Problem continues.

How about where the antenna plugs into adapter behind the glove box or kick panel? When I took my 2002 in for a heater core they never plugged that back in, just taped it.

Yeah, checked that out too. While it seems to me that Chrysler could have made a better adapter to antenna junction besides the black foam one provided, it is connected. Should the metal sleeve inside wrap around the outer parts of both the antenna plug and the extension cable? Other than that it seems all good...

If I remember correctly, I believe I had to peel the rubber back to get it to snap into place. It didn't want to go in gracefully.
