Default In car video? Recomendations?

Okay, I'm about ready to take the plunge into in car video. I really want one of those DVD units that motor out from the dash. I do not want to have to install a seperate DVD player either. Also, I am thinking about headrest screens so my girls can watch on longer drives and allow me to remain slightly sane.
So, I'm searching for recomendations for a in dash DVD player that will still play CDs, head rest screens, and any comments for you guys that have already done this.
Thanks[|)]

Alpine makes one of the best looking and sounding ones out there. Last years model is the IVA-D900 this years is the IVA-D901. They also came out with a touch screen IVA-D300. This is the cheapest one but I am not sure how the pic looks because of the touch screen. You have to purchase the rear screen separate from the head unit. Can run to be over $2000 to $2500. All units mentioned includes 7" screen and DVD player All-In-One.

Now Pioneer makes a nice one. They have a 7" and 6.5" Both touch screens. The thing I like about the Pioneer is when the screen is closed you can still see the time and station or whatever. It has a little 8 chareter screen when it is closed. The Alpine doesn't. Pioneer makes a package that includes the 6.5" screen and a separate head rest screen that does not hace to be screen in to the head rest. It connects on the head rest poles. I had both units and the pioneer was more functional, but the Alpine IVA-D900 was better looking and sounding , but not by much. The pioneer package one should not go for more then $2000 all together. If you can't find it for this price then let me know and I can get you one for that price shipped Brand New. The Alpine units for the D300 Retails for $1500 and the D901 goes for about $2300. Both you need to buy the extra screen.

Also pros about the Pioneer. The Monitor will not come one unless the E-brake is on. It is easier to make the by-pass so the screens can come on while driving witht the pioneer then the Alpine. I hope this helps. The only other 2 I would look in to the the Kenwood and the Panasonic. Both have good sound and pics. But I believe the best deal is with the Pioneer.

look on ebay for all in one head units and sceens. i go the new pioneer avic-n1 on ebay for $1515.00 shipped. it is great. it has navigation, dvd , it plays mp3s, and it has video out for extra screens. you can also check out the screens on ebay. they have 2 7.2" screens for $189.00. might not be the highes quality screens you can get, but for the kids its good enough. they also come with brackets so you can attach them to the headrest posts and not have to cut the headrests up. look around ebay, thats probably the cheapest your gonna find these units for anywhere. also look at the kenwood units. the only thing is that the kenwoods dont come with navi and to get it, its like 900.00 more.

The E-brake bypass is what I have been looking for. I don't plan on putting screens in the head rests since the kids only ride every now and then. My wives van has a rear screen for them. But, when they do ride, and they get loud (all the time) I want to be able to play them a movie to reduce the volume of back seat screaming. So, is this bypass just some jumper wires? Or, does anyone have a schematic or drawing that will keep me from srcewing up my PTs electrical system?
I never use the E-brake anyway except when working on the car.

the simplest ones to bypass are the pioneers and kenwoods, all you do is ground the e-brake wire and your set. the alpines are alittle mor complicated.

I've got my Pioneer 6400 CD/DVD Navigation system for sale. It is packed and ready to ship ASAP. It has the motorized 6.5' screen and the remote. You can even control it by voice command. Asking $1200.00 or OBO. that price will include shipping. I can ship it tomorrow if interested. Missy
