Default Speaker Adapters for Door Speakers

Does someone make speaker adapters that would allow mounting 6.5" speakers where the factory door speakers are? I bought an aftermarket (Metra 82-6600) set, but they do not cover the speaker hole worth a damn and would need to be HEAVILY modified to be made to work with my aftermarket 6.5" speakers.
I REALLY should have bought 6.75" aftermarket speakers, but I didn't (long story).

Can't you just return them and get some larger ones?

The place I got them from does not stock the 6.75" speakers.

Rob342, yes I know that there are speaker adapters on the market, I was looking for one that would actually work in this situation and hoping that one of the members had run into this with their car.

I got some for my front doors on eBay. You could just cut the speaker out of the old one and use that to mount your new ones I think.

That is if your old ones are toast anyway.

I thought about cutting mine up, but the plastic frame is cracked into about 75 pieces, and would only have two mounting lugs remaining.

Sorry Rob, I thought you were calling me lazy .
The problem is, they look good in the pictures, but nobody seems to publish dimensions on these things.
I think I'm just going to break down and buy 6.75" speakers and sell the 6.5's that I have.

+1 You will be happier.

I know it's not logical but it's true.
