Default ALARM SYSTEM

I have a bone stock base PT and am looking for an alarm system. I do not even have remotes for the door locks (we are talking really, really base model). I do not care, one way or the other if I have them or not, and do not know if they are required for an alarm. Does anyone out there have a recomendation regarding an alarm system, either factory or aftermarket?

Thank you all in advance.

Chrysler offers a base security system for cars without power door locks. Security module #82203763 is $149.50 with wiring harness #82206015 at $31.05 when ordered on-line at www.kollerdodgeparts.com. These factory parts are covered under your car's warranty. I would highly recommend you also order a factory shop manual. It comes in handy many times. I forgot to mention, #'s are for an '02 PT.

I have a fully loaded LTD - minus the sun roof.....I could have had one but living in Aussie it was a bit like having the air conditioner on whilst driving a convertible..... and I reckon that you are much better off sticking to Chrysler fitted bits'n'pieces, the aftermarket stuff is a bit 'iffy in quality for the PT. I have looked at heaps of stuff "PT" but still think that even though it costs twice as much, at least by buying the 'genuine' article, I can't hurt the resale .....( if ever I get an incurable illness) of my PT....safe cruisin.....

Thank you both very much. The information is greatly appreciated. The lovely wife said that she would buy me an alarm for the PT for my birthday and the info will help greatly.

I think what really matters is if you bought or leased the vehicle. If you leased I would buy the Chrysler system. At least that way you won't get charged for adding 3rd party items to your leased vehicle.

If you purchased the car then you can add any system that you wish. You can get a very good 3rd party system for the price of the Chrysler one that will add power locks and shock sensors ect.

I had a CompuSTAR 2way alarm system istalled on my GT this week. The system works great. It can be installed on vehicles without power locks. You can add the needed actuators and connect them to the control module. You can even add remote window roll up and/or sunroof if you want.

It also has dual stage shock sensors, remote start, Auto arm/lock...(and a bunch of goodies I haven't figured out yet) All with a quarter mile range.

Hope this helps
