Default 2007 PT Cruiser key fobs both stopped working

2007 PT Cruiser. I have 2 original keys that the fobs will no longer work. Have to use the key to unlock the door. They will both start the car. Everyone wants a fortune to get a new key and program the fob. Newegg and Amazon both sell a replacement for about $35 with Free Self Programming Instructions. Anybody know if this works?

Dumb question, what about replacing batteries?

Batteries are good. One has a chip that has deteriorated and the other has a lot of broken plastic inside. Both ave been tested.

You can't program a key without 2 working keys, your keys work to start the car...but the fob buttons have to work to set the programing.

I got 2 new keys today. If you have 2 keys that will start your car, they will work for programming new keys. The fobs do not have to work to unlock the doors. Just as long as the car recognizes them to start the car.

PS: Fobs have to work to set alarm, unlock doors & stuff.

Does anybody know if 06 and up still use the same box under the dash top. For the fobs? That could have lost the programming. also did they both suddenly stop at the same time?

I watched the guy do it. The 2 keys we had would start the car but the fobs did not work to unlock the doors or sound the alarm. The keys made are fully functional.
