Default Bass tube install

I got a bass tube from a friend of mine who upgraded his system, what would be the best way to install these on a stock system?

Do you mean this kind of Bass Tube?

If so, I had it professionally installed, but they added a Clarion AMP under the front drivers seat then ran the wires along the door edges and into the rear side copartment with a quick disconnect so I could take it out if need be. The AMP wires forward along the door edge out to the engine compartment and into the fuse box...out of the box, back thru the firewall to the radio.

The stock radio does not have enough power to power a sub. Get a cheap, but good amp and you should be fine. Going throw the firewall is not that hard. Just look for a rubber grament and that is your way in.

Mine supposedly came with it's own "built-in" AMP but was told by the sound shop that it's way too weak to really get some bass out of the speaker...that's why I went with an aftermarket AMP. As SwtNLwPT said, on the drivers side, up under the dash, look for the wires that already pass thru the firewall surrounded by a black grommet. There's extra room in that hole to pass more wires thru to the engine compartment.

There is no such thing as a cheap but good amp, unless you don't want much power. Figure you what the RMS is on the bass tube, and go buy yourself a good amp. You'll thank yourself for doing it in the long run. I've been told that it's a bad idea to mount an amp under the drivers seat as it gets little to no air to keep it cool, and if it gets hot enough, it could begin to burn the carpet. Just what I've heard, no evidence though.

I'll keep an eye out for the smoke!
