I just bought a used Cruiser and I have a question. Can the keyless entry be made into or used with an alarm? I want an alarm, but I like the way the keyless entry works by only unlocking the driver door. I want the horn to sound if the door was opened, has anyone done this?

OPIATE .... your owners manual will show you the several options you can perform with your keyless entry....if it is in fact, a factory keyless entry system.... check it out. You can do things like press the button twice to unlock ALL the doors & tailgate. If you install a security system, I personally would go with the factory set-up ~ Won't cost that much, and it's "plug-n-play" type of thing.....
It's even possible you already have the alarm system on it and the horn is disabled. Try this, get in the car and press the door lock button to lock the doors, if you see a tiny red light flashing in the middle of your FUEL/TEMP. gauge, then most likely, you have an alarm already. Press the unlock button once to deactivate the alarm system.

Thanks for the reply. So it can be used with an alarm? By that I mean, it can be used with a dealership alarm? Yes it is a factory keyless entry, I already know about unlocking all the doors or just the driver door. That is what I liked about it because I bought this car for my wife and I like the fact it can open just the driver door for safety. I don't think it has an alarm already because when you lock the doors with the remote, the horn beeps but I haven't tried what you said about the flashing light in the dash cluster. So how much would this be, to plug as you said, a factory alarm into with what I already have?
