With my radio install I elected to mount the Sirius antenna on top of the dash which required;
remove the upper cross piece by windshield, both visors (and undo vanity / light wire connection on the visor at the post).... you'll see what I'm talking about. Remove the right and left A-pillar trim pieces. Now pull the dash cover STRAIGHT BACK. With the dash cover off you'll have lots of places to run / hide excess wires. sirius antenna location.jpg

I mounted the Sirius module on the bottom side of the inside of the center area with double sticky tape. The lead for the antenna is about 20 flippin feet long so I just wound it up and tucked in a pocket on the top of the dash which is now wide open (since the cover is removed)..... you'll see what I'm talking about. I mounted the PAC module with wire ties to the harness for the HVAC with zip ties.

I ran the microphone wire from the radio pocket up and across the top of the dash to the left A-pillar then up through the hole in the sheet metal hole for the left visor mounting. I cut a small notch on the visor plastic mount where it attaches to the top metal header panel for the wire to run through... leave enough wire for the visor to swing down and to the side window.

For the radio USB cable I remove the glove box and drilled a hole on the back of the box then cut a slot for the cable to "nest" in. There is plenty of length behind the glove box that I just looped and tied off on the right side of the radio pocket. Gorilla tape works wonders to stick and hold wire to flat surfaces.

Radio mounting plates from the Metra kit. After many trails and errors I found the perfect location with the side plates TOP flush with the TOP of the radio. I found the rearward location to be about 27 millimeters from the FRONT of the radio. Look close at the pict. I had to fiddle a couple times to get it perfect equal on both sides of the installed bezel. Patience Grass Hopper...... Note the pencil lines as reference marks on the radio... very helpful ! ! Remember the side plates have a location PIN that goes to the TOP side of the radio.

I found that the Metra face plate to be a bit small height wise requiring me to SHAVE about 3 millimeters off the TOP part of the ring of the adapter. PLEASE trial fit the radio to the INSTALLED bezel trim ring before you install the radio. Like I said mine was a SNUG fit on the sides too so I filed an extra .5 mm off on both sides. Once everything is installed you won't even see the thin gap around the radio. But to help hide the opening on the trimmed bezel, I used black paint pen on the filed edge all around. Black hides a lot of things versus a light color against something black.

All the connections I had to make to the back of the Pioneer. Look at the black paint dots where everything gets connected. As you look at the picture, on the left side round brown for the yellow back up camera input, below that for the USB, right side of radio for the main radio connection from the PAC interface, antenna lead (remember the PAC antenna adapter), the microphone, and the round multi pin for the Sirius module. This radio has the capability for the Pioneer GPS system (left side yellow gold multi) but at $300 I elected to use my Garmin stick on windshield type.

Tuck all wires away and now fit the radio to the instrument panel. You should have plenty of room behind the radio for wires and air circulation.

To add a bit of support to the bottom of the radio I took a piece of cardboard from the radio box and folded it up a couple times and stuffed it at the bottom resting on the metal cross brace. It's not going anywhere with at piece of double sticky tape on the radio side. Cardboard is about 2 inches wide and almost the width of the radio and about 1/2 inch thick folded. (that piece of black wire below the cardboard on the left side was moved for the final install).. That black rectangle box below the crossbar is the Sirius module mounted with double sticky tape. It ain't going nowhere....
