I am trying to put an aftermarket radio in the pt. I bought the wiring harness adaptor plug wired same colors together and when i plug it in the unit wont power on. Is there something im missing the oe unit is the standard 1 disc unit i would think it should work. Anyone have any tips or experience with this? Its a 2007, sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I couldnt do a search on my tablet for some reason

Did you wire up the black ground wire? On my stock stereo it was a separate wire with a locking female spade that popped onto a metal tab on the stereo unit. I just crimped on a spade to the new harness and pushed it in.

When you took the old stock stereo out was there a single black wire clipped into the casing of the unit?

If the ground is good it sounds like it is a power issue. check your power wires again. There are sometimes two wires that supply power to the radio. One is power from the battery and the other supplies power to the switch. Make sure these are both connected.

Another thought. Does the radio have a fused line? If so when you installed the radio did you have the battery disconnected? If not you may have accidentally blown the fuse

What year is your PT? Radio harness must be vastly different to mine, then again mine is a first run First Gen. They did all kinds of funky stuff on these from what I've read.

On the harness you need to match up all the wires correctly. The OEM wires should say what they are. You need to crimp them together accordingly. I'm assuming if you did all that correctly it's possible that you forgot to connect the remote turn on. The PT doesn't have this wire from factory, so you have to tap into the accessory wire and connect that to the blue wire with the white strip (also known as the remote turn on wire) on the harness you bought.

This accessory wire connects to the front cigarette lighter in front of the shifter. You don't need to remove the whole center console to tap into that wire. I personally used a t-tap and ran that wire to the remote turn on wire on the harness. If you don't know what t-taps are or where to get them, this is an example of the same t-taps I used. They work great.

Here is an example of my car where I t-tapped into that wire:

I didnt connect the blue wire because it didnt match up with the radios blue wire. The blue wire on my harness doesnt have the white stripe . I will try that. Thanks for the advice man, its been driving me nuts.
