Thats right about the box. Your not just buying a box here, mine or the the JL. This is a stealth custom design and for that it cost more money do to the time involved in making it. My box can house a 12" woofer when the JL can house only a 10". The JL is als rated 125 watts RMS. It is a 10w0 model sub which is the lowest quility that JL makes. don't get me wrong JL makes some the best stuff on the market and even there cheap stuff sounds pretty good. With my box you can put a 12w0, 12w6v2 or any other brand like Kicker, Rockford, Alpine or anything else you like out there. Mine is much cheaper then the JL and if you are interested in a sub I a have a friend that owns a shop and I can get you the sub at a great discount.

I agree with SwtNLwPT. Stealth is the key. If you can find a Stealth box built for that specific 12 inch speaker, go for it. But don't forget, stealth cost. The JL Audio sounds great for a ten inch.

This all started when I wanted a sub.
I looked everywhere for one to fit under the seat, but nothing I found was either small enough or power full enough. Until I found an open box sub selling for 110 less normal price. So I bought it and got an amp for cheap. Went and got a 80 Q-Logic box to fit the 12 in. However now I fell it takes up too much space in the truck. Its not that big but I would like for it to be gone. Swtnlwpt, Yes your box does sound sweet, 200 is a little much for what I want, but its a price I could pay plus shipping. As I asked before, I have not check the other post, but how hard is this to put in. I did realise the panel it a bi to take out, I have tried already. Thanks

It doesn't look to me that the stealth box is set up to allow for the best possible sound. The only position you have is for the sub to blow towards the right. With a box that's free, you can move and place the box however you like. I have mine blowing into the rear seats, and it makes the entire car rumble. I'm not sure about each individual subwoofer needing its own size box to maximize sound, where do you find out how much space you need? I'm on the fence about that one. Is $500 worth the ability to not see your subwoofer and possibly reduce the subwoofer's performance?

Each sub woofer has a specific cubic feet box need t maximize its potential. This information is located with the speaker. All PROFESSIONAL car stereo shops will tell you what will work and what won't work as well as it can. If they don't tell you this then they are not professional. Also, bass is omnidirectional. It doesn't matter which direction it faces. Most prfessional systems have the woofers facing away the driver. This allow for the low frequency (hertz) to travel a longer distance so that the bass feels and sounds deeper. Having the sub in the left side (stealth) allows the bass to tavel further giving you that deeper bass. For example, have you ever heard a vehicle coming but didn't see it? That's because the low frequency produced sounds better because the distance it traveled the closer you are to the speaker the less you will hear the deep bass produced by the woofer. I hope this helps in your decision.

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I have the JL Stealbox for sale, asking $300. It's in the classifieds section of this forum. I really liked the performance but I'm planning on getting a custom made enclosure at the shop that I work at.

Thanks Dream Bruizer, learn something new every day on this forum. I know a bit about car audio, but am always wanting to learn more. I've tried positioning my box all different ways, and have found having it facing forward is the best for my sub, but I know that for different subs they sound better facing a different direction.

I have mine in a totally custom box and my subs face the roof of my PT. It sounds great and still rattles the mirrors and windows. I had a really good box, a SubZero vented box that really hit nice, butit was so damn huge. I went to this custom set up and can still fit 2 suitcases and a garmet bag in the back. Much more room and great performance, plus it is a one of a kind...that is what I truly love about it...

How come the Stealthbox does NOT fit a PT with the OEM Satellite Radio option? Is there something blocking it?

GuyOwen,
Supposedly, the Sirius tuner pack is also located in the left rear quarter panel. This is supposed to make the Stealthbox install impossible. However, I have not seen the exact location of a factory-mounted Sirius tuner pack, so I can't give any further facts or details to let you know if you can do it (even with minor tuner pack relocation). Scott
