Default entertainment idea

I have this idea.

Mini pc under the drivers seat. wireless keyboard and a button mouse. Then some how fashion a small LCD screen inside the car.

hmm, with a large enough hdd i could game, save movies and music to the hdd and have all that fun at my fingertips.

Technobear,

In most states, it's illegal to have a screen that the driver can see. I know you see a lot of them around, but that doesn't make it legal. For the kind of money your talking about, you can buy a wireless notebook that plays DVD's and does everything a desktop does. My son up in West Virginia has one.

there are some great looking installs on that page, and it isnt that expensive to make a carputer if you know where to shop. look at the 2003 bmw install.

I planned out and helped install a similar system in a friends camero. But he was running on a bigger budget than i can. He used a Pioneer indash dvd/lcd screen.

Im aware of the legal issues of such a setup. that is why you build a railed system for the screen that slides down and next to the center console

Im still early in the planning stages.

that link did give me an idea for the option of a touch screen lcd. i hadnt thought of that.

the legalities are very vauge in some states. the main thing is that you dont get caught watching a movie while driving. the screen can be visible to the driver if it used for navigation, or if it is used for audio controls. i dont belive that all the screens in higher end cars that control different functions like in BMW's are all illegal, but hey, im not a cop.

Great idea! But, I was thinking it was great in the old days when we had CB radios to talk to our "Buddies" on the highway. Well, program up a network channel on Sirius Radio, or the other one, for PT Cruiser Links Interactive (PTCLI) so I can hear all new posts and respond via voice while I'm driving down the 40r5 freeway twice a day. I could say 'howdy' to the Creusir in the next lane just like on the forums only realtime with Cruiser Voice Messaging (CVM).
