strangelove:

agreed, the positioning seems weird.....why would you need double the speakers? one good quality door speaker is plenty.

and is that a tweeter mounted on the floor??????!!!!!!!!!

After cruising around the interstate yesterday in my GT, I have come to the conclusion that the sound system is good...needs a subwoofer so you can actually turn down the bass to get less distortion. But what it really needs is more insulation to get rid of the road noise. You can upgrade the sound system all you want but you would still have the noise...and insulating the car better is alot cheaper.
just chimeing in on this subject.

Just a quick test one can take. Put on your favorite radio station and then a CD. In my cruiser the radio station sounds bad and there are three of them locally. A CD is another story. I have at times the volume upto "MAX" (38) and it sounds pretty darn good. Seems like rash girl is on the money here. The factory radio should go. My son has always told me if you want better sounding FM stations, upgrade the radio. I guess I'll save up alittle bit longer and go that route (I'll do the speakers later). I think that ote69 is on to something also, insulation. Another item that couldn't hurt. When I replace the speakers I put some in then.

I rarely listen to radio unless its drivetime morning shows and I have the 6 cd deck which I have alot of burnt cd's of my fav tunes to use. now then the cd is great... radio passible making my rating good. It could use a little upgrade in the speaker department though to tri axles, bose or infinity's would be good and insulate the rear doors, hatch, q-panels and floor. Some removable high grade speakers to attached to the shelf and a sub woofer to finish...hmmm i think i have my plan-o-action.

Rash girl,

You did mention insulating the PT but when it got warmer. Thought it was too cold where you live and the cruisers heater needed some help. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
