bigdogdad,

bah go get a tan <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

yes i said i was going to look at my options in the spring, but i wanted to know if any of you veterans had already hopped on the band wagon....

<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

some products are better than others, some cheaper. i was hoping to get a few tips before i ventured into my own sound-proofing-expedition where no other pt owner on this site has gone before....

"When your strange people come out of the rain"

Has anyone thought about putting the navigation stereo unit Mopar lists as an accessory for the PT. It says you can load DVD maps, does that mean you can play DVD movies on it too?

gisdyhilwsd

i just typed out this huge msg and i wasn't logged in <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

anyways, i'll summarize.

turbomangt, you will never have a consensus. ever. you'll have to just make a decsion or keep fence-sitting.

i base my opinion on expierence. you may want to check out your local classified ads and find a good used deck even. i did that with my first unit. if you have kids, swap it into their car and see if you can hear the difference, then spend some cash on something sweet for your pt.

goto a local stereo shop and check out your options, talk to guys there they may even have something to demonstrate for you so you can hear for yourself.

oh and just for your info, you still have some time before spring sales start. springtime is like xmas sales in caraudio-land.

Chasgood: The speakers that come with the car are not Infinity, no matter what trim level you have or what stereo. They are simply, "Premium", speakers. I replaced the door and rear pillar units and found more accurate sound. (A little clearer treble and more detailed bass notes.) I wouldn't replace the rear-pillar speakers again, though. Wasn't worth it in my opinion.

Thanks BraytonAK. Kind of figured that. So far my PT sounds better than what was in my last car (and I did replace the rear pair in it). Maybe not the best stereo in the world for sure but over half the time I listen to talk radio stations. Just saying it could be worse.

My home theather is another story. I love my si-fi and action movies loud and in Dolby Digital 5.1 so I can feel the destrution.
Sports are great in surround sound. turn down the center speaker and you tune out the talking heads. <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

I strongly recomend the following pioneer speakers. $65.00 a piece and a perfect fit behind factory grills.

Rear speakers, TS-A6880R 6x8 four-way speakers:

Door speakers, TS-A1767 6 3/4" three-way speakers:

Im thinking about changing the rear speakers in my 02.
They seem to be muffled, whereas the front sounds pretty good.
Jackie Cooper in OKC has some alpine's that will fit installed for about $100.
Anyone know if it would be worth it???
