There Polk audio DX7's 5X7 and run around 150-170 a pair. Good luck finding them in a local store though. My area doesn't have them.

Go with seperates in the rear. Use the factory 5x7 speaker as a template on 3/8" mdf.. you can easily fit a 5.25 seperate component system in that location.. Great sound for rear staging. for the front upgrade to a 6.5 / tweeter seperates.. 6.5 in the door location.. tweeter in the upper dash corners.. great improvement over stock..

go with something like polk audio, alpine, boston acoustics, kicker and use composite 6 1/2"s in the doors, most come with crossovers to keep the bass out of the tweeters. best place for tweets is either in the a pillars or at the bottom corner of the a pillars at the windshield. you can use tape to mount them temporarily till you find the best place to aim them. If you know how to do fiberglass you can pretty much build any enclosure you want. I just got a brand new pair of polk audio 4" 2 way speakers for $18 (retail for $80) but an odd size , i plan on fiberglassing the lower door panels and mounting them alongside the 6.5's
I never seen the mopar subwoofer but i'm guessing thats its wayyyy overpriced for what it is. but if your using the stock head unit then i guess thats the only option, maybe a bazooka tube http://www.sasbazooka.com/, or something similar taht has a built in amp. In order to run anything else you would need to have rca outputs from your head unit to an amp. I have 2 kicker Comp VR 12's that were around $100 each which is probably less then one mopar 10" sub. jaygotti, if you want dvd/nav and know a thing about computers you may want to look on this forum www.mp3car.com everything you'd ever want to know about building a mobile entertainment system, or you can also buy premade head unit/ dvd systems that have a retractable screen. I just prefer to build my own stuff, for those electronically inclined, you can learn ALOT just by checking the forums at www.carsound.com especially the fabrication section, many of the members are professional installers who do custom sounds systems for a living and also build competition show cars, they can be a gret help when you need answers and save you from wasting money on bad equipment |

Hello all --
Well, my 2003 Turbo CD player just died. I am wondering if anyone can advise on who I can go to in Southern California to install a new system. Thanks! |

See if there's a Competition Soundworks near you if you need something custom done or if you're going to splurge on a full stereo 'system'. I believe they've got a few stores now, but they are one of the best places in So. Cal. If you're just doing a CD player replacement, most any chain store can do that.

I paid $90 on e-bay for the mopar unit and when it came it looked like a well made unit, it's only an 8" cone but size isn't everything ![]() It probably took longer to install that a tube like the bazooka as you have to take out the rear seat (easy) rear interior trim and route the wiring down the passenger side to the front (quite easy), once ther it just plugs into your head unit and the wiring loom you just pulled from the head unit, power is taken from the back of the cigar lighter. Installing the unit and the grille over where the pocket used to be is also not too bad, the beauty is the unit comes with istructions that are easy to follow and it has a list of tools to use. It sounded just fine with the stock head unit and allows you to turn the bass down to say -1 so the rest of the speakers are not trying to over travel to produce low frequencies they are not designed to take. I've since changed out the head unit and it still works great with an aftermarket head unit, I'm still running the same wiring set up (from the high level rear speaker wires), but I'm told that it's easy to change it over to use the pre-amplified RCA outputs, I just can't be bothered to pull out the unit and head unit to chage it over sounds fine like it is.One thing is to take your time and listen to a variety of CD's when assessing where to set the gain screw on the unit as once you put the car back to gether you can't get at the gain to adjust like you could with a tube or box on the boot.
