I am still debating about changing the rear speakersin my Cruiser.
What do you guys know about Boston speakers, compared to Alpine or Kicker. The Boston has a high metallic sound almost a hiss, the Kicker has less crispness but the hiss is not there. I still have not heard the alpine. I cant find a store that has one hooked up to try. Cruisergeo My Website is http://cruisergeo.tripod.com/ |

Don't forget to upgrade your speaker wiring. The hiss you're hearing could be the cheap OEM wires.

I'm going with an all JL audio sysetm (With the following exception, I'm keeping the factory in dash 6 CD player). I'm replacing wires speakers, amps and adding a 12" sub in a custom box. The work will be done by a local shop. But I drew out the system wiring diagram, and listen to the components, etc. I can do it myself, but I'm letting the "pros" do this one, because I want everything hidden and/or looking stock. macster Don't help me Help the bear |

"I'm replacing wires speakers, amps and adding a 12" sub in a custom box." AND "JL makes a 10" Stealthbox for the PT. Works for me, but then again it's only a ten..." Where ar you putting these custom boxes? Im a little confused. I do not want to have the Big Kickers in the rear of my car. Cruisergeo My Website is http://cruisergeo.tripod.com/ Edited by - cruisergeo on 04/14/2003 19:45:56 |

the key is not mounting the box. anyways, i like boston, and JL. i have boston door speakers, 6X9's didnt fit so they're in the garage still....and i went with orion extreme 10's...i happen to like 10's cause they're punchy, but to each their own. if i had to choose between boston, alpine and kicker, i'd go boston. clear sound, good speaker. but i like JL's subs. IF YOUR LOOKING TO HID EVERYTHING AND HAVE IT LOOK STOCK CHECK OUT THE STEALTH BOX THAT HIDES IN THE REAR OF THE CAR ON THE LEFT SIDE. IT GOES BEHIND THE STORAGE COMPARTMENT AND YOU STILL KEEP THE WHOLOE TRUNK. THEY PUT A 10 INCH IN THE CUSTOM BOX, THEY SAY IT GIVES PLENTY OF BASE. THEN HIDE YOUR AMP UNDER THE FRONT SEAT AND YOU SEE NUTTIN. JL MAKES THE BOX, IT COSTS 499 FOR IT WITH THE SUBWOOFER TOO. A LITTLE PRICY, BUT WORTH THE SPACE.

I JUST PUT MB QUARTS IN MINE, 6 AND A HALF IN THE FRONT AND 5 X 7 IN THE REAR, PLUS CHANGED THE HEAD UNIT TO A PIONEER 8400 WITH MOTORIZED DECK . THE GRAPHICS ARE PRETTY COOL. THEN GOT 2 AMPS, ONE FOR THE 4 SPEAKERS AND ONE FOR THE SUB, BOTH AMPS WERE ALPINES V SERIES. IT SHOULD SOUIND GOOD, AFTER ALL, 2600 FOR EVERYTHING, IT BETTER OR ELSE!!!!!!
