Default XM Lineout

I've got an XM Skyfi2 Reciever and it says for the best reception to use the tapedeck converter. Unfortunately, my '03 Cruiser doesn't have a tape player. Is there a line out from the back of the CD changer radio that I can go to directly from the reciever?

you will need to get a fm modulator. the factory HU doesnt have a aux in. the fm mod will be the easiest way to get it to work. if you get a HU with an aux in, you can get one of those headfone plug to rca adapters from radioshack for 3 bucks. that will give you the best sound.

Dreadnaught,

Don't worry! I bought a MyFi portable XM receiver for my wife. Just use the SkyFi2's built-in FM transmitter and tune the radio to the frequency you chose to transmit from the SkyFi2. The sound from the MyFi rocks, even on FM.

I've tried that and I'm getting alot of interference over the channel I'm using, signal sounds scratchy. Where did you mount your antenna, because I put mine on the roof just ahead my spoiler and ran down through the hatch and then forward to the SkyFi2.

Dreadnaught,

I have 2 XM systems, one in each of my PT GTs. My 2003 GT has an Alpine radio with the Alpine XM tuner pack. The antenna is mounted on the roof, just in front of the hatch (see pic:

My 2004 GT uses the stock in-dash 6-disc changer with the XM MyFi. I have had great success with the small portable antenna, but the home and car antennas will outperform the portable antenna. I will be mounting the XM car antenna in roughly the same spot that I used for my 2003 GT. It sounds like we are using the same spot. Remember, the spoiler *could* be causing a line-of-sight issue. If so, move the antenna on the roof towards the front of the car about 6-8 inches. That should solve your problem. If you don't like the positioning, move the antenna back until you receive a satisfactory reception/aesthetics compromise.

Also, you can change the FM transmitter station on the SkyFi2. Maybe there is a better transmitting station that doesn't interfere like the one you are using now?
