Default New Head Unit/Speakers

Ok, since I am off for the Holidays, I have been thinking about installing a new head unit for the car. Does anyone have any suggestions? And...

1. Guide on how to get the old radio out/new one in? Is it hard? Does it take any extra junk from best Buy or Circuit City?
2. Front Speakers. I have new speakers in the back, but as far as speakers in the door, how hard are those to install? guides?

Sorry for so many questions,

Jae

you'll need the metra kit from circuit city which they have in stock for about $15

the front speakers are 6.5" and there are many choices available depending on price.

you can also opt for a special harness which will allow you to do the install without cutting any wires, not sure if they have that one in stock because the harness changed for the pt over the years

jmack, the factory head unit is easy to uninstall. All you have to do is pry off the window switch box, then disconnect it from the back. Then there should be a screw where the switches used to be. Unscrew it, and then the panel just pops right off. There should only be 4 screws holding the head unit in. Unscrew those and the unit will slide right out. I would suggest going for either audiobahn, alpine, or infinity for the front speakers. I just installed a new set of infinity's all the way around, and they sound great. Circuit City will be able to hook you up with whatever you need to install the new head unit. I bet if you purchased the speakers and head unit from them, and did a little bargaining, they'd install the speakers and new receiver for not much at all.
